Brewer Creek

I

…you could bottle the scent of the sun on the pines

sculpt a lightning-struck tamarack still reaching towards the sun

paint eternal sky and alpenglow and splash of wildflower on moss

compose a symphony of falling water and birdsong and wind

weave the tenderness of newly opened larch needles with the softness of the breeze

then

you would be the Artist no human could ever be.

But if

…you could walk softly on a mountain path

breathe in the perfume of the forest

soak up the light and the shapes and the colour

listen to the music of the natural world

touch sunshine and air and things that grow

be fully present in this moment that you can never be present in again

then

you could be the audience to the world the artist created

and you will be as close to God as you will ever be.
